UK start-up fundraising surged to record levels in the final quarter of 2020, according to Refinitiv Deals Intelligence:

UK companies raised GBP 2.4 billion in Q4 2020 from 137 deals, the highest on record.

GBP 7.5 billion of venture capital was raised during 2020 with 575 rounds completed.

The UK retains its top spot in Europe.

Four out of the top 10 VC deals in Europe involved a UK company.

The largest British deal was for Revolut, in London, which raised GBP 386.8 million.

The most active UK investor was Index Ventures, which invested GBP 571 million in 66 deals.
